Documentation Rules and Ordering Information for 18-Character Nomenclature Required by Systems Applications Products (SAP) 1. Rules for pre-existing (product preview or production data) devices: A. When counting the nomenclature characters, do not reserve a place for the device revision. B. For any device name with more than 18 characters, see package footnote. C. If the device name has more than 18 characters and has resistor options on both sides of the device, for example, SN74ALVCHR162269ADGGR, then (1) abbreviate the DGGR package to GR and (2) remove the redundant "2". These two rules always should be done at the same time. After applying rules 1 A-C, for order entry, the new device name is SN74ALVCHR16269AGR (18 characters). 2. Rules for new devices or pre-existing devices being redesigned: A. For new devices, reserve a place for the device revision when counting the nomenclature characters. [This is represented by an asterisk (*).] B. For any device name with more than 17 characters (plus revision placeholder), see package footnote. C. If the device has the resistor option, with resistors on both sides, then the device nomenclature is, for example, SN74ALVTHR16245DL (without the redundant "2"). After applying rules 2 A-C, in the case of SN74ALVTHR16245*DL (17 characters + revision placeholder), for order entry, do not abbreviate the package. However, when ordering tape and reel for the SN74ALVTHR16245*DLR (18 characters + revision placeholder), the DLR package is abbreviated to LR (18 characters). 3. Package footnote to be used on the data sheet when the device nomenclature has more than 18 characters (include only the packages that break the rule): NOTE: For order entry: The DBB package is abbreviated to G, the DGG package is abbreviated to G, the DGV package is abbreviated to V, and the DL package is abbreviated to L. For tape and reel: The DBBR package is abbreviated to GR, the DGGR package is abbreviated to GR, the DGVR package is abbreviated to VR, and the DLR package is abbreviated to LR. For pre-existing or new devices [e.g., SN74ALVCH162268A (16 characters)] that are offered in DGG, DGV, and DL packages, the footnote for the orderables is: NOTE: For order entry: The DGG package is abbreviated to G, and the DGV package is abbreviated to V. For tape and reel: The DGGR package is abbreviated to GR, the DGVR package is abbreviated to VR, and the DLR package is abbreviated to LR. Since the DL package does not exceed the 18-character rule, it is not included in the footnote. For more information, see PCN5320 (http://www.ti.com/sc/docs/asl/pcns.htm). SZZU001B |
