module datasheet v e rsion 1.0 doc. number: inhd003 8/20/2001 1 introduction the PSM2001ACD is one m e m b er of the w e bchip tm fam ily of products. the m odule contains a network com m unication controller ps2000, an rs-232 transceiver , an rs-485 transceiver , and a standard modem interface. the PSM2001ACD provides a convenient interface for users to develop various networking applications for intelligent devices. it uses a standard serial peripheral interface (spi) com m unication port to connect to the user mcu and conform s to the mcunet tm protocol. the PSM2001ACD connects to a server gateway w e bchipserver tm through any of the following: rs-232, rs-485 or standard modem . 2 features x single +5v power supply x each m odule has a unique id x supports m u ltiple com m unication m odes PSM2001ACD w e bchip? s input voltage, ( rxd, dcd ) 7 application notes 7.1 PSM2001ACD and user mcu interface method as shown in figure 3, the PSM2001ACD uses a standard spi to connect to the user ? s mcu, and the com m unication protocol conform s to the mcunet tm protocol. if the user ? s mcu doesn? t have an spi interface available, a com m on i/o port can be used to m a ke up an spi port. for detailed inform ation on the interface m e thods between the PSM2001ACD and the user mcu, please refer to the psm20xx fam ily w e bchip tm module user ? PSM2001ACD sends data to the mcu 2. PSM2001ACD is able to interface with the gateway through any of the following three m odes. the following describes the configuration and connection of these m odes. 7.3.1 rs-232 mode as shown in figure 9, the PSM2001ACD connects to the server gateway through the rs-232 connection m ode. it should be noted that the rso1 pin of PSM2001ACD m u st be connected directly to the rsi pin. rxd and txd are the receiving pin and transm itting pin respectively . other unused pins m u st be left open. mc u /cs cl k do di /int 1 6 2 7 3 8 4 9 5 ps m2 00 1a cd tx d rxd rs o 1 rsi 17 18 10 9 dte socket 8 6 5 7 4 fi gur e 9 rs-232 connecti o n mode in the figure, dte is the abbreviation for data term inal equipm ent. 7.3.2 rs-485 mode as shown in figure 10, the PSM2001ACD connects to the server gateway through the rs-485 connection m ode. it should be noted that the rso2 pin of the PSM2001ACD m u st be connected to the rsi pin directly , and other unused pins m u st be left open. p&s d a ta com co rpo r a t ion page 13 of 17 PSM2001ACD w e bchip? module datasheet v e rsion 1.0 doc. number: inhd003 8/20/2001 7.4 id number in w e bchip tm product s both the w e bchip tm and the w e bchip tm m odule psm200xacd have an id num ber that consists of 8 bytes. in addition to a parity code of one byte, the rem a ining 7 bytes have up to 7.2x10 16 of coding capacity , which ensure that every w e bchip tm product has a unique id num ber . therefore, users will also have a unique id num ber when designing their own networking products with w e bchip tm products. w ith the help of the id num ber , users can com m unicate with the unique device anywhere in the world through the server gateway . the id num ber is usually printed on the bottom or side of the psm200xacd. p&s d a ta com co rpo r a t ion page 15 of 17 PSM2001ACD w e bchip? module datasheet v e rsion 1.0 doc. number: inhd003 8/20/2001 8 t r oubleshooting number t r oubles t r oubl eshooti n g 1 after connecting to the supply , the status indicator of PSM2001ACD doesn? t turn on 1. check if the hardware connection is correct 2. check if the PSM2001ACD is initiali zed by user ? s program correctly 2 after connecting to the supply , the status indicator of PSM2001ACD turns on, but the PSM2001ACD doesn? t work in rs-232 mode normally 1. check if the tx d of the PSM2001ACD is connected to pin 2 of dte, the rxd of th e psm2001ac d is connect ed to pin 3of dte, and pin 5 of dte is connected to gnd 2. check if th e b a ud rate of the PSM2001ACD is the same as th at of serial port of the pc 3. check if the s e rial port of the p c is connected correctly 4. check if p i n 9 of the PSM2001ACD is connected to pin 10 of the PSM2001ACD directly 5. check if th e i d of the ac ces s devi ce con f ig ured b y t h e gateway software is the same as that of the module labeled on the board 3 after connecting to the supply , the status indicator of PSM2001ACD turns on, but the PSM2001ACD doesn? t work in rs-485 mode normally 1 check if the serial por t of th e pc in which the w e bchipser ver tm software is programmed has a rs-232 to rs-485 connector 2 check if the i d of th e access device config ured b y the gateway software is the same as that of the module labeled on the board 3 check if the p s m2001acd is initi alized b y the user ? s prog ram correctly 4 check if terminal a and b of rs-485 are connected correctly 5 check if pin 9 of PSM2001ACD is connected to pin 1 1 of the PSM2001ACD directly 6 check if the b a ud rate of the p s m2001acd is the same as th at of serial port of the pc 4 after connecting to the supply , the status indicator of PSM2001ACD turns on, but the PSM2001ACD doesn?
